How Kendrick Lamar Used the Biggest Beef of the Century to Fix Hip-Hop Culture
IF WE GET 50 PATRONS, I WILL MAKE A VIDEO ON TPAB (click the link to join!):
www.patreon.com/MyBeautifulLongWindedAnalysis
I usually don't like covering happenings in rap that are inherently... cultural, and shallow. I like telling stories, communicating character arcs that we get to watch in real time on albums and songs, and bringing my own life into them in the hopes that you can see yourself too.
But in this case, I think what Kendrick has accomplished in his beef with Drake is a story... it's a metanarrative, an unspoken assault on Drake and all he's influenced as the stagnators of culture.
In this video I’d like to talk about more than just the content of the songs, the allegations, the stuff you can already read about on Twitter… i think there’s something much more significant at play here.
The social media era has ushered in a new wave of hip-hop, which has brought in a lot of good change… but there are problems too. There’s a reason this beef has really just transcended a rap battle between Kendrick and Drake… everyone’s involved, and that’s because it’s a conflict between the productive and destructive forces of hip hop music. A tug of war between deep and shallow. A grudge match over authenticity, and fantasy.
But that’s a conversation that we can’t just dive into. The real question we have to answer first is, why in the world is the spiritual obsessed, I’m too cool for hip hop quarrels rapper finally dipping his feet into beef? And why is someone who has famously learned to stray away from beef giving in to the temptation once more?
For both of them… Why become a hypocrite just to take down one person?
What do you think of the beef? Let's talk about it in the comments!
Thanks so much for watching. Every subscriber/viewer means a lot to me, and I appreciate every like and comment. Let me know what you think about the video or the album and I'd love to have a discussion in the comments! Music is meant to be discussed to assimilate ideas and to grow as people.

I am a Christian and student and I made this channel when I was in high school. I started this channel because I love talking about music (specifically hip hop) and given that the genre seems to be going downhill, I want to be part of the community that preserves the expectation of great music and dissecting what makes a beautiful record. Dealing with a lack of friends to discuss these matters with, I hoped to start my own community that loves music just as I do, as well as to provide a unique perspective as a follower of Christ that also appreciates this community. I appreciate everyone who watches and I am truly happy to see anybody comment their thoughts on a project I talk about.
Put "NOT LIKE US" as your comment if you read the description!
As always, thank you very much for watching and taking time out of your day to discuss music with me, God bless. Isaiah 55:8-12

The Influence of Drake: The Good, The Bad, & The UGLY

Drake is an artist who has been one of the most influential individuals on my music taste of any other musician. I will always hold a significant place in my heart for my first listens of So Far Gone, Take Care, Scorpion... but the last few years have hurt me greatly. But there’s something that I feel like rarely gets addressed with this project, and that’s relationships. To Pimp a Butt...

WHICH/ONE? This is a concept that has fascinated me since The Life of Pablo came out in 2016 - originally titled So Help Me God (allegedly). It initially looked like Kanye's most messy, disorganized, and ill-conceived album yet. While that remains partially true, hindsight has revealed that The Life of Pablo was much more intentional and altruistic than we gave it credit for when it released. J...

Me And Your Mama is likely Childish Gambino's most popular song at this point (at least in his top 3). Throughout this video I talk about a sensitive topic, something that I think matters. I appreciate Gambino for being artistic about thi...

Hello, Jackson. I would like to commemorate you on your effort to educate people on woods. UA-cam really needs more content like this. You seem like a reflective type, so I would like to you to bring one idea to your attention. Despite your best intentions, on this platform you're working with the audience that wants you to tell how Kendrick saved the culture by making Adonis family relations a living hell for the rest of his life, and how much of a role model the Weeknd's character is. Needless to say, most of the viewers will take what you say here at the face value. It is extremely unfair woods and all of the other genius rappers in the abstract space nowadays have such low stats. I really hope that a few years and a couple of million views later you'll come back to this video to change the title. But, as you gave the woods his well-earned flowers, I couldn't help but notice none of the ELUCID mentions in the video (even though you can see him in the montage). Please don't Anthony Fantano him. It is extremely unfair to leave him out of equation, as he is crucial to the development of the direction of AH as well as woods solo stuff. If you have never given his solo stuff a shot (was guilty of that at some point myself), just now that his influence plays a big part in the art you fell in love with. You can hear it from the woods himself, and you can also hear that, discerning ELUCID's solo work. I hope you'll be mindful of that connection next time you'll decide to bring this topic up

    • @Broll-Bearmantle
      @Broll-Bearmantle День тому

@JacksonsMusicPalate No, I'm not frustrated about the title at all. I meant that I hope that you will change it because woods will go big 🦾 I'm frustrated that most of the people on UA-cam don't acknowledge ELUCID even in moments where his style and writing had impacted the output of woods. They build woods up as a GOAT and that's it, no shoutouts about anybody else, nothing. And, to be clear, this is not your fault, you just seemed reasonable to see my argument

I think of this album as pent up anger. in the first disk he's trying to get it out but can't and realizes the only way he can let go of this anger is to find love in himself amd forgive those he's most angry at (himself and the world) and he then realizes the only way he can do that is to forgive how God does (something must die either metaphorically or literally) so he metaphorically kills himself (or takes off the mask kills this "savior in him") and is now letting the world know how angry he is, we commonly think we need to take out our anger to get rid of it but truthfully we don't we just need to let someone know how angry we are to get rid of it and now he's doing that which will allow him to forgive the world allowing him to find peace and love

New artists coming out with a few good projects early in their career and then running out of things to say and falling off is a tale as old as time. Only difference between Drake and those other artists is he didn’t let running out of things to say stop him. He figured out that if he jumped from wave to wave, emulating whatever the hot style was and making shallow, meaningless music that “sounds good”, he’d stay popular forever.

Drakes isn’t a pedophile & Drake probably* doesn’t have other kids besides Adonis. I said probably* because I’m sure he’s had plenty of close calls. I feel the need to reiterate this because this seems to get lost in this whole propaganda war. Kendrick lied a lot just as Drake might have lied about Kendrick’s domestic violence.

Personally not for me. also, Kendrick didn’t set out initially to prove his the better man moral wise. he literally said once Drake started going low he was gonna go lower & warned him many times to keep it friendly and above the belt but Drake did not listen. I’m sure you have great content other wise tho. Maybe I’ll like another video more, later brother
